Our Staff

Anna Christensen - Curriculum Director and Risk Management Consultant

Anna’s life has been dedicated to the passionate pursuit of adventure. Her commitment to excellence resulted in Anna founding the Wilderness Alert:Preparing for Adventure! She is currently curriculum director and risk management consultant for the school and has recently published the field guide, Mis•Adventure: A step by step guide to accident handling.

Anna is the innovator of many first aid techniques and has developed simple step by step solutions to even the most complicated problems. Her previous book, Wilderness First Aid:A Resource for Outdoor Leaders (aka the ‘Big Yellow Book’) was the industry standard for over a decade. She invented the Image™ Bandage, Flexi Splint™ and Stabiliti Splint™ to ensure that user-friendly products are available to field personnel.

With a diverse 30 year history in the outdoor pursuits industry, Anna clearly understands what it’s like to be out there beyond the safety net of just needing to call ‘911’. Dealing with the challenges of a life can be confusing, frightening and frustrating, even to highly skilled individuals. Read Anna's detailed biography and her commitment to you as a student.
